On the occasion of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid rich tributes to the chief architect of the Indian Constitution on Saturday (December 6), describing the day as one of inspiration for the entire nation. On behalf of the state government and the 25 crore people of Uttar Pradesh, the Chief Minister offered humble homage to Babasaheb and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to his ideals of equality, justice, and fraternity.
CM Yogi recalled Dr Ambedkar’s lifelong struggle for social justice and his unwavering belief in constitutional values. He said Ambedkar had clearly warned that those who did not respect Indian soil could never sincerely serve the nation. Referring to a 1923 incident, the Chief Minister mentioned that a senior Congress leader of that time had refused to sing “Vande Mataram” and expressed a desire to die in Jerusalem, highlighting Babasaheb’s firm nationalist outlook.
The Chief Minister also took aim at political parties indulging in appeasement politics, alleging that such practices weaken the country and amount to an insult to Dr Ambedkar’s legacy. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a “New India” is taking pride in its great personalities and restoring their rightful honour.
Security Cover for Ambedkar Statues Across the State
Announcing a key administrative initiative, CM Yogi said the Uttar Pradesh government will ensure the protection and respectful preservation of Dr Ambedkar’s statues across the state. Boundary walls and protective canopies will be constructed wherever required to prevent damage and ensure the dignity of the memorials.
He further said that welfare initiatives like the Panch Teerth related to Babasaheb, scholarships for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backwards Class students, free ration for the poor, housing for the deprived, household toilets, universal health facilities, and ownership rights through ‘Gharoni’ all reflect the constitutional vision laid down by Dr Ambedkar in the Preamble.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister offered a floral tribute at Dr Ambedkar’s statue in Lucknow. The CM Office stated that, inspired by Babasaheb’s teachings, the double-engine government is working with the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” to ensure inclusive development without discrimination.
CM Yogi assured that the state will continue to strive for social empowerment, national unity, and the restoration of constitutional values, paying heartfelt respects to Dr Ambedkar on behalf of all Uttar Pradesh residents.
