The recruitment process for 69,206 posts in the Department of Child Development Services and Nutrition is about to begin. These include 7,952 positions for Anganwadi workers and 61,254 positions for assistants. Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal has directed departmental officials to prepare a timetable for filling the vacant posts in all districts. He emphasised that dates and deadlines should be fixed for each stage of the process to ensure uniformity throughout the recruitment process. The process should be conducted in a fair, transparent, and time-bound manner.
Vacant Posts and Recruitment Preparations
In a departmental review meeting held on Thursday, Additional Chief Secretary for Women’s Welfare, Leena Johri, informed that 2,123 posts for Anganwadi workers are from the previous selection process, 306 are from newly created centres, and 5,523 posts of mini Anganwadi workers have been converted into main Anganwadi worker posts. Meanwhile, 38,994 assistant posts are vacant due to retirement and deaths, and 22,260 posts are linked to upgraded centres. The Chief Secretary stated that before issuing the schedule, a committee should be formed under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate in all districts.

He also directed that the state’s 23,697 approved Anganwadi centres be rapidly developed into “Saksham Anganwadis” (capable Anganwadis) by equipping them with five key components: a nutrition garden, rainwater harvesting system, RO machine, LED screen, ECCE materials, BaLA painting, and minor civil works. Construction work at centres that are still under development should be expedited.
A three-day training program for workers under the “Nutrition as well as Education” initiative should be completed promptly. Pending cases under the Rani Lakshmibai Women and Child Honor Fund should be resolved within the current month, and timely assistance must be provided to the victims. Officials will face action if cases are unnecessarily delayed. The meeting was attended by Director of Women’s Welfare Sandeep Kaur and Director of Child Development Services and Nutrition Sarnit Kaur Broca.
