The Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Development Mission has taken a major step toward promoting entrepreneurship among young people in UP. From the launch of the scheme to 3 December 2025, authorities have distributed loans to 1,11,548 youths, amounting to over ₹4,572.74 crore. Thus, in just ten months, more than one lakh young people have already moved forward on the path of setting up new enterprises.

In this regard, the nodal officer of the Youth Entrepreneur Mission, Sarveshwar Shukla, said that the increasing interest of youth is clear from the 4,31,871 applications received on the portal so far. Out of these, 3,48,497 applications were forwarded to banks, while 1,22,722 were approved.

OBC and SC-ST categories lead

The data analysis shows that the scheme is strengthening social representation. Although around 34.9% of the beneficiaries belong to the general category, 49.1% come from the OBC category. Moreover, 14.8% are from the SC category and 0.3% from the ST category. Therefore, OBC, SC, and ST communities together form nearly 65% of the total beneficiaries. This clearly indicates that the scheme is proving highly effective in empowering socially disadvantaged groups economically.

Service sector attracts the highest participation

Under the scheme, the service sector has seen the highest participation from young entrepreneurs. Around 62.80% of applicants took loans for service-related ventures, whereas 37.20% received financial support for manufacturing or production-based enterprises. As a result, the service sector has emerged as the first choice for youth—whether in retail, IT services, repair units, or other business services.

Strong participation of women

Although men account for 71.2% of the beneficiaries and women for 28%, the share of women is gradually increasing. Furthermore, the government is focusing on offering more support to women entrepreneurs.
