A land survey of a graveyard located near the Jama Masjid in Sambhal began on Tuesday (December 30) under tight security. Revenue officials are measuring around 8 bighas of land, while the district administration has made it clear that illegal encroachments, if found, will be removed after the process is completed.
Tight Security and Drone Surveillance
To maintain law and order, a heavy police presence has been deployed across the area. Police personnel, along with PAC and RRF units, are stationed at key points. In addition, the administration is using drones and CCTV cameras to keep a close watch on the situation. Earlier, senior police and administrative officers conducted a foot patrol in the locality to assess ground conditions and reassure residents.

Revenue Team Carries Out Measurement
A large revenue team has been formed on the directions of the district magistrate. The survey is being led by the tehsildar and includes several revenue officials tasked with measuring the land accurately. According to officials, local shopkeepers and residents were informed in advance about the exercise. As a result, the administration hopes to complete the survey smoothly without confusion or unrest.
Allegations of Encroachment and Past Violence
Complaints allege that houses and shops have been illegally built on the graveyard land over the years. Moreover, the complainants have linked this area to violence reported in 2024, claiming that attacks on the police were carried out from illegal structures. The administration has stated that if encroachments are confirmed during the survey, strict action will follow, including demolition where required.
