Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in Agra on Monday evening for a divisional review meeting and an interaction with BJP public representatives and party office-bearers. He reached the city at around 4 pm, where BJP MPs, MLAs, district presidents and senior party leaders welcomed him at the Kheria Airport. From there, the Chief Minister proceeded to the Divisional Commissioner’s auditorium for the review meeting.
Focus on SIR Progress and Electoral Preparedness
The nearly two-hour-long meeting included BJP legislators and party officials from Agra, Mathura, Firozabad and Mainpuri districts. A key focus of the discussion was the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The Chief Minister also reviewed the slow pace of the SIR exercise and urged party workers to step up efforts to ensure that all eligible citizens are enrolled as voters. He stressed that a strong democracy depends on accurate and comprehensive voter lists and called upon the organisation to treat the task as a priority.
Apart from the SIR, issues related to development projects, law and order, public outreach and coordination between the administration and elected representatives were also discussed. Additionally, CM Yogi directed public representatives to remain active in their constituencies and ensure the timely resolution of public grievances.
Ahead of the Chief Minister’s review meeting, the Divisional Commissioner’s office was turned into a high-security zone. Local police, PAC and special security forces were deployed in and around the premises. Gate number one of the office complex was closed, while entry through gate number two was strictly restricted to individuals whose names were included in the official list for the meeting, prepared jointly by BJP office-bearers and the administration.
The meeting was attended by Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly and Council, mayors, nagar panchayat chairpersons, assembly-level observers appointed for the SIR exercise, booth-level agents and senior BJP leaders. No non-political individuals were allowed to attend the meeting.
