On October 6, CM Yogi Adityanath participated in the Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) Conclave 2025 held in Varanasi. During the event, he highlighted the progress and developments achieved in Uttar Pradesh’s agricultural sector. He stated that Uttar Pradesh is the state with the highest number of agricultural universities and announced that the state is soon going to establish its fifth agricultural university.
The Chief Minister mentioned that paddy is cultivated in 70 lakh hectares and wheat in 100 lakh hectares, while sugarcane is grown on 29 lakh hectares of land in the state. He emphasized that Uttar Pradesh is one of the most significant states in India from an agricultural perspective, ensuring that the country never faces a shortage of food grains.
CM Yogi further said that innovation and research & development in the agricultural sector must be prioritised so that better yields can be achieved with fewer resources.
Speaking about the history of ‘Kala Namak’, he mentioned that Lord Buddha had first offered it as Prasad here in Varanasi, and today, Uttar Pradesh has relaunched it from Siddharthnagar under the ‘One District, One Product’ (ODOP) initiative.
UP to Build ‘Chaudhary Charan Singh Seed Park’ in Lucknow
CM Yogi also announced that a Seed Park named after former Chief Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh will soon be constructed in Lucknow. He further added that in the last 11 years, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed revolutionary changes in the field of agriculture. The state has advanced so much in food production that it alone contributes nearly 21% of India’s total food grain output.
During the same visit, the Chief Minister distributed certificates, laptops, and sewing machines to students at Shri Annapurna Rishikul Brahmacharyashram in the holy city of Varanasi. CM Yogi stated that under the ‘Mission Shakti’ programme, initiatives focused on women’s safety, respect, and self-reliance are being continuously implemented. By linking daughters with various government programmes, the Uttar Pradesh government is paving the way for their empowerment and independence.
He concluded by saying, “I am happy to share that we have launched a scholarship for every student studying Sanskrit. In the coming time, the government will also provide grants for accommodation and meals for Sanskrit students. Additionally, a special scholarship will soon be announced for those pursuing advanced research and higher studies in Sanskrit.”
