In Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, a 12-year-old girl, while chasing social media fame, created controversial videos insulting Hindu deities — a move that not only drew public outrage but also sent her parents to jail. The minor posted the clips to increase followers, ending up in legal trouble instead.
Her video quickly went viral, leading Hindu groups and many social media users to tag UP and Etawah Police demanding action. Treating the complaint seriously, police registered a case against the girl, her parents, and one of her friends. The girl has been shifted to a juvenile shelter home, where she apologised, admitting she did it to gain followers. Her parents have been jailed. The case belongs to Etawah city.
Case Registered at Friends Colony Police Station
The incident took place in Takia Azad Nagar, Teela, under the Friends Colony police station. Residents Shabir and Shabeena faced an FIR after their minor daughter posted abusive remarks against Hindu gods and goddesses on Instagram.
What Did the Girl Say?
On October 27, the girl uploaded a one-minute video making vulgar comments about Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. She taunted viewers, claiming she knew about Ram-Sita’s story and dared anyone to get her arrested. Many users reacted angrily, demanding police action and calling for her to be jailed.
Police Response After Public Outcry
As tensions grew, police swung into action following multiple complaints from Hindu organisations. Investigations revealed that the girl’s parents and a close friend were aware of her videos but failed to stop her. Considering their negligence serious, police booked the minor, her parents, and another youth. The girl was sent to Nari Niketan while her parents and one more accused were jailed. Another suspect, Arif, said to be from a different district, is absconding and being traced.
Police Statement
CO City Abhay Narayan Rai confirmed that the girl’s parents have been arrested and sent to jail, while she has been placed in a juvenile protection home. One more social media friend involved is still unidentified and will be arrested after questioning. The girl’s social media account has been blocked.
The CO urged parents to monitor children’s online activities, warning that anyone sharing or promoting such offensive content will face legal consequences.
