PM’s Lucknow Visit: Statues of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Two Other National Icons to Be Dedicated to the Nation Today

-

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal built under the Basant Kunj scheme today (December 25). Preparations for the grand event have been completed. During the programme, the PM will also unveil the statues of three national icons—former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee, and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. In addition, a museum built to preserve their memories will be inaugurated.

Large Public Participation and Key Dignitaries

It is estimated that more than 1.5 lakh people will attend the event. Meanwhile, UP CM Yogi Adityanath and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will also be present. PM is expected to arrive at the venue by helicopter around 2 pm. Therefore, extensive arrangements have been made at the venue as well as across the city to mark the occasion.

City Beautification and Preparations

For this event, the entire city has been decorated and beautified. Moreover, high-quality flowering plants have been brought from several states to enhance the venue. Road dividers have been cleaned and repainted. Similarly, colourful decorative lights have been installed on streetlight poles at major intersections and routes. Attractive wall paintings have also been done across key areas.

Transport and Parking Arrangements

At the same time, strong logistical arrangements have been put in place. Around 2,000 buses from nearby districts are expected to arrive. Hence, 13 dedicated parking areas have been created, with space for about 2,600 buses and 2,000 cars. To ensure smooth management, officials and staff have been deployed at different points.

About the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal

The Rashtriya Prerna Sthal is spread over 65 acres and has been built at a cost of ₹232 crore. Construction began in December 2022. Importantly, the site features 65-foot-tall bronze statues of Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The total cost of building these statues is ₹21 crore.

The statue of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was created by renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, who also made the Statue of Unity. Meanwhile, the statues of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Atal Bihari Vajpayee were made by sculptor Matu Ram.

Programme Schedule and Museum Visit

First, PM will unveil the statues and offer floral tributes. On this occasion, tricolour balloons will be released to promote a sense of nationalism. After that, he will inaugurate the museum dedicated to the three leaders.

The Prime Minister will then visit different galleries inside the museum. Initially, a digital gallery will present brief life stories of the national icons. Subsequently, he will visit galleries dedicated to Bharat Mata, the Jana Sangh symbol (lamp), and the Sudarshan Chakra. He will also view galleries on the first floor displaying objects related to these leaders. Finally, after coming out of the museum, he will address the public from the main stage at the Prerna Sthal.

Traffic Diversions Across the City

Due to the PM’s visit on December 25, traffic arrangements have been changed. Accordingly, traffic diversions will remain in force from midnight on December 24 until the end of the programme. However, emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire services, school buses, and hearses will be allowed on restricted routes. For assistance, the traffic control helpline number 9454405155 has been issued.

Tight Security Arrangements

Meanwhile, strict security measures have been implemented. According to JCP (Law and Order) Bablu Kumar, the entire area in and around the venue is under close police surveillance, and continuous checking is being carried out.

In total, 18 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 26 Additional DCPs, 80 Assistant CPs, 189 Inspectors, 1,367 Sub-Inspectors, 214 women Sub-Inspectors, 4,312 constables, and 997 women constables have been deployed. In addition, 18 companies of PAC, 4 companies of RAF, 8 bomb disposal squads, 2 NSG teams, 1 ATS team, 2 anti-drone teams, 1 anti-mine team, and 14 anti-sabotage teams are on duty. Furthermore, CCTV cameras are monitoring the area round the clock, quick response teams have been formed, and four police teams have been kept in reserve.
