In view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit, a major inspection campaign was conducted across several colonies of the Kotwali Cantonment area of Ayodhya on Friday (November 21). Police teams moved door-to-door in Jalpa Colony, Sadar Bazaar, neighbourhoods around the Army area, and nearby residential pockets. They verified tenants as well as outsiders. Houses occupied by tenants were thoroughly checked. Officials recorded their identity, mobile numbers, permanent addresses, and details of all frequent visitors. Police asked temporary labourers and students residing in many homes to show their valid identity cards.

Suspicious Vehicles Scrutinised

Simultaneously, the Police examined old, abandoned and suspicious vehicles that had been parked for days. Vehicles without number plates or those found stationary for a long time were immediately checked and verified. Even the Police issued notices. Officials checked the documents of the vehicle owners and recorded their phone numbers and addresses. According to Cantt in-charge Pankaj Singh, an intensive drive was being conducted to prevent any lapse during the Prime Minister’s visit and the flag-hoisting ceremony. He appealed to residents to report newly arriving individuals and to avoid renting rooms without proper identification checks.
