A disturbing incident has emerged from the Kapilvastu region, where a minor Hindu girl was allegedly trapped under the pretext of friendship, filmed in an objectionable situation, and then blackmailed and raped. Considering the gravity of the incident, the police initiated strict action on October 28. In the initial phase of the investigation, it was found that the video was shared among several Muslim individuals, and whoever received it threatened to make it viral and sexually exploit the girl.
Statement Recorded Before Magistrate
The victim’s statement was formally recorded before a magistrate, in which she narrated the entire incident in detail. The minor also provided police with the names, addresses, and mobile numbers of all the accused. The police have conducted her medical examination, and further legal procedures are underway before the next steps.
Muslim Men Involved
The girl stated that a middle-aged man named Hafeeq from a neighbouring village also threatened her using the same video and repeatedly called her to his house, where he sexually assaulted her. She alleged that she was blackmailed by threatening to circulate the video on social media, and the accused repeatedly committed the crime.
This continued for months — whenever one of the accused left for work in Mumbai or Delhi, he would hand over the video clip to a Muslim friend or acquaintance from his circle. Each person used the video to threaten the Hindu girl and assault her. Police have filed a case against Junaid, Halim, Mumtaz alias Kamar, Rayyan, Shadab, Hafeeq, Vaid, and Sirajuddin from nearby villages.
Exploited for Three Months
According to sources, the minor had been continuously blackmailed and sexually assaulted for nearly three months. When her mental and physical condition deteriorated, she finally informed her family. Her family immediately lodged a complaint at the police station, based on which action was initiated.
Station House Officer Vipin Prakash Singh said that the investigation is ongoing under serious charges and appropriate action is being taken against the accused.
Video Recorded Under Pretext of Friendship
In her statement, the victim explained that Junaid, a resident of a nearby village, first befriended her and secretly recorded an objectionable video while engaging in physical relations. When Junaid, who works in Mumbai, left for work, he handed the video to his Muslim friends. That friend also threatened and assaulted her multiple times.
The video continued to circulate from one person to another. Whosoever received it threatened to upload it on the internet and exploit the girl. This cycle continued without interruption.
More Names Likely to Emerge
Inspector Crime Rama Yadav, who is investigating the case, said that legal procedures are in progress. A named FIR has been registered against eight accused so far. As the investigation progresses, more names are likely to emerge. Several suspects are still absconding, and their locations are being traced.
