Lucknow witnessed a state-level programme on Friday (December 25) to mark Veer Bal Diwas, with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath participating in the event. Addressing the gathering, CM said that PM Modi listened to the voice of the Sikh community across the country and, in honour of their supreme sacrifice and dedication, declared December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas. He noted that the day is now being observed as a national programme across India.
Veer Bal Diwas is being commemorated nationwide on Friday (December 26). On this occasion, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Awards on 20 children from 18 states and Union Territories at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also interacted with the award recipients during the event.
Moreover, the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Awards are given to children who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in fields such as bravery, art and culture, environmental conservation, social service, science and technology, and sports.
A prestigious national honour, the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award is instituted by the Government of India and is presented annually to recognise extraordinary talent and courage among children.

Notably, Veer Bal Diwas is observed every year on December 26 at the national level under the aegis of the Ministry of Women and Child Development to commemorate the courage, sacrifice, and exemplary values of India’s young heroes. Addressing the programme, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi also said that sustained efforts are being made to ensure that every child in India is healthy, well-nourished, and empowered.
Highlighting growing participation, the minister also noted that the number of applications for the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Awards has been increasing steadily every year. Congratulating the awardees, she said the honour recognises their dreams, struggles, and achievements, and will inspire millions of children across the country. She added that the awardees have demonstrated that with the right opportunities, India’s talent can achieve the impossible, describing them as the “changemakers of a developed India.”
