The Udupi district police in Karnataka recently uncovered a significant case involving national maritime security and detained two men from Sultanpur. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rohit (29) and Santri (37). Both were taken into custody on Thursday (November 20) for their alleged involvement in espionage activities.

Sensitive Data Traced Through Mobile Phones

Initial investigations revealed that crucial information had been transmitted to foreign numbers, posing a potential threat to India’s maritime security framework. As per inputs received by intelligence agencies, the leaked material may have included details of defence vessels, cargo ships, and other technical specifications.

During interrogation, several chats, documents, and media files were recovered from the accused men’s mobile phones. Forensic analysis is underway to determine how long the espionage activities had been going on and whether a larger network was involved.

Meanwhile, Sultanpur SP Kunwar Anupam Singh reiterated that his department currently has no concrete information regarding the case. He added that any assistance requested by the investigating agencies would be promptly provided.
