Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday (October 18) flagged off the first batch of BrahMos missiles manufactured at the BrahMos Aerospace facility located in Lucknow. This day will not only prove to be a milestone for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) but will also infuse new energy into India’s commitment to self-reliance in defence production.
BrahMos Aerospace, the manufacturer of the world’s fastest and most lethal precision-strike BrahMos supersonic missile system, has completed the first batch of missiles from its new Integration and Testing facility in Lucknow. This state-of-the-art unit became fully operational after its inauguration on May 11.
On the occasion, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Today is a significant day for the people of Uttar Pradesh. Lucknow is playing an important role in the defence sector. I inaugurated the BrahMos unit five months ago, and today its first batch has been dispatched. This is no ordinary feat. Operation Sindoor has proven that victory has now become a habit for us. The world has recognised India’s strength. The nation now firmly believes that we have become very strong. Let me remind you that if India can give birth to Pakistan, then… well, you are intelligent enough to understand the rest.”
“BrahMos is the backbone of all three armed forces. This unit is a symbol of the country’s growing strength. Wherever BrahMos is discussed in the country, people express great confidence in it. From young children to the elderly, everyone praises it. This trust is our true strength.”

During the event, the Defence Minister and Chief Minister observed the booster docking process. As part of the program,a presentation of BrahMos simulator equipment also took place. Additionally, both leaders participated in a tree plantation drive. During the event, Dr Jayateerth R. Joshi, Director General of BrahMos, handed over a cheque and GST invoice to CM Yogi Adityanath, which will generate revenue for the state government. The production of BrahMos missiles in UP is expected to create employment opportunities for highly skilled youth.
Moreover, the Lucknow BrahMos unit is the first facility in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor where engineers and technicians carry out the entire process of manufacturing and final testing of missile systems within the country. This project not only holds strategic significance but also creates new opportunities for employment, investment, and technological innovation in the state.
