At Lucknow Gita Festival, CM Yogi Highlights Sanatan Values, Says Gita Needed by All 140 Crore Indians

CM Yogi added that people often ask where the RSS gets its funding from, and he clarified that no country or organisation funds it. Instead, people join it with a spirit of devotion and service.

At the Divya Gita Prerna Utsav held at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the 700 verses across the 18 chapters of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita are a mantra for life for followers of Sanatan Dharma. Moreover, he added that Indians never treated religion as only a method of worship, since worship depends on one’s personal belief. In fact, religion in India is seen as an art of living, and the Gita teaches that art. Furthermore, he stressed that Indians have never boasted about their greatness; instead, the idea of “live and let live” originated in India, and so did the message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”

He said that Sanatan Dharma teaches that good deeds lead to good results and bad deeds lead to bad outcomes. Additionally, the Chief Minister said that the Gita guides us to focus on selfless action, without being attached to the fruits of our work, and that this should be the purpose of life.

He further added that people often ask where the RSS gets its funding from, and he clarified that no country or organisation funds it. Instead, people join it with a spirit of devotion and service. The RSS has been working with a “Nation First” approach for a hundred years, serving people selflessly across all sections of society. He said that the Gita is necessary for all 140 crore citizens. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was also present at the event.

Gita’s Message Is Needed Amid Noise & Chaos

During the festival, Swami Gyananand stated that Lord Krishna chose the day of Mokshada Ekadashi to give the Gita’s wisdom to Arjun. Therefore, he said that the purpose of this event is not only inspiration but also a call to live with the Gita in today’s environment. He emphasised that the teachings of the Gita are needed most during times of noise and confusion.

He also said that a smart city has no value if the citizens themselves are not smart. Consequently, the Gita’s wisdom is needed to make people truly smart. He added that the clouds of selfish appeasement are clearing and Sanatan Dharma is rising again. Thus, the mission is to take the Gita’s message to every home and every individual. He said that the Gita should be included in education as well, so children can learn its values from the beginning. Finally, he said that the Gita’s message must reach every field of society.
