Uttar Pradesh has clinched the prestigious Best Spiritual Tourism Destination Award at the Seven Stars Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards 2025, held at the Troia Design Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal. The accolade celebrates the state’s profound spiritual legacy and its emergence as a global hub for faith-based tourism. Puneet R. Kundal, India’s Ambassador to Portugal, accepted the award on behalf of the state, marking a historic moment that positions Uttar Pradesh among the world’s top spiritual and cultural destinations.
Renowned as the “Land of Faith and Divinity,” Uttar Pradesh is home to sacred cities like Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Prayagraj, and Chitrakoot, which draw millions of pilgrims and tourists annually for spiritual enrichment and cultural immersion. Under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, the state has revitalised its spiritual tourism through iconic festivals such as Deepotsav in Ayodhya, Dev Deepawali in Varanasi, and Rangotsav in Barsana. These events have not only preserved traditional celebrations but also garnered international acclaim, enhancing the state’s appeal to global travellers.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh described the award as a proud milestone, stating, “This recognition reflects Uttar Pradesh’s unparalleled spiritual and cultural heritage, inspiring travellers worldwide. It reaffirms our commitment to preserving sacred traditions while offering world-class experiences for pilgrims and tourists.” The award aligns with the state’s Vision Viksit UP @2047, which aims to establish Uttar Pradesh as India’s premier tourism destination, blending spirituality, heritage, and modern hospitality.
This global honour underscores Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to combine its rich cultural legacy with cutting-edge infrastructure, creating transformative experiences for visitors. The state’s vibrant festivals and sacred sites continue to solidify its reputation as a beacon of faith and divinity on the global stage.
