On Sunday (October 26), UP CM Yogi visited the Kartik Purnima Fair held at Garhmukteshwar, a sacred place on the banks of the Ganga River. CM Yogi performed the traditional Ganga Puja, took a detailed round of the fair, and held a high-level review meeting with officials to ensure smooth management and safety arrangements for the large number of devotees attending the annual fair.

This year’s Kartik Purnima Fair has already witnessed the arrival of more than 50,000 devotees from various parts of the state and neighbouring regions. The holy occasion attracts pilgrims who come to take a sacred dip in the Ganga River and participate in religious rituals and cultural events.

Warm Welcome and Ganga Puja

The Chief Minister’s helicopter landed at the helipad near the Ganga ghat at around 1:20 p.m. Thousands of people gathered at the venue, raising slogans and welcoming him with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai.”

CM Yogi Adityanath walked to the Ganga ghat, about 200 meters away, where he performed the Ganga Puja under the guidance of Pandit Govind Shastri, Vinod Shastri, Madhusudan Shastri, and Gagan Shastri. The ritual was conducted amid the chanting of Vedic mantras. After completing the puja, the Chief Minister spent about 20 minutes at the ghat and then proceeded to inspect the fairgrounds on foot.

During his walk through the fair, thousands of devotees surrounded him, greeting him enthusiastically. CM Yogi waved to the crowd and interacted briefly with people present at the site.

High-Level Review Meeting

Following the inspection, CM Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting with senior officials, including the Commissioner, DIG, IG, District Magistrate, and Superintendent of Police. The meeting lasted for over an hour and focused on public safety, crowd management, and the prevention of crimes—especially those related to women’s safety.

He instructed officials to ensure that no devotee faces any inconvenience during the fair and emphasised maintaining strict control over the sale and consumption of alcohol. He also directed the police and administration to strengthen patrolling and security measures to prevent accidents and criminal activities.

Particular attention was given to the safety of devotees bathing in the Ganga, with instructions to enhance rescue operations and deploy additional lifeguards. The Chief Minister remained at the venue for approximately one hour and twenty-five minutes before departing at 2:45 p.m.

Meetings in Delhi and Ghaziabad

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the inauguration ceremony of Yashoda Medicity in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, where President Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended the event.

During her address, President Murmu said it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to expand and ensure quality healthcare services so that no citizen is deprived of effective medical care. She added that with the establishment of excellent healthcare institutions like Yashoda Medicity, India would continue to grow as a global healthcare destination.

Later in the evening, CM Yogi Adityanath met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President J.P. Nadda in Delhi. The meetings were reported to be focused on current administrative and political developments in Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister’s visit to Garhmukteshwar for the Kartik Purnima Fair and his series of high-level meetings in Delhi-NCR underscored the state government’s focus on religious tourism, public welfare, and development-oriented governance.
