The UP government will celebrate Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti on October 7 across the state with great enthusiasm. On this occasion, CM Yogi has directed officials to organise religious and cultural programs in all districts. The celebrations will include recitations from the Ramayana, devotional songs (bhajans and kirtans), lamp lighting (deep prajwalan), and cultural performances. The Yogi government has instructed the concerned departments to ensure maximum participation of public representatives and local citizens in these events.
Main Event in Lalapur, Chitrakoot
The main celebration will take place at Lalapur in Chitrakoot, the sacred site of Maharishi Valmiki’s penance. The program will begin at 11 AM with the garlanding of Maharishi Valmiki’s statue. This will be followed by Ramayana recitations, rituals, and devotional songs performed by students of Sanskrit and local artists. Spiritual and cultural performances will highlight the life and contributions of Maharishi Valmiki. Local citizens, public representatives, and administrative officials are expected to attend the event.
Statewide Religious and Cultural Programs
Alongside the main event, the state will host various programs. Authorities have planned special celebrations at Tulsidas Ashram in Rajapur (Chitrakoot), Valmiki Ashram in Bithoor (Kanpur), Shravasti, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj. These locations will host lamp-lighting ceremonies, devotional evenings (bhajan sandhya), and mass prayers (aarti) to create a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
