Hiding Identity to Enter Dandiya-Garba Will Lead Straight to Jail, Strict Orders from UP Police

Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan has made it clear that if any person enters these cultural events by hiding their true identity, strict legal action will be taken against them, and they may even be sent to jail.

On the auspicious occasion of Navratri, Garba and Dandiya events are being organised with great enthusiasm at various places across Uttar Pradesh. Keeping in mind the sanctity of these programs and the safety of women, the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission has issued strict guidelines to all district administrations.

Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan has made it clear that if any person enters these cultural events by hiding their true identity, strict legal action will be taken against them, and they may even be sent to jail. Entry will only be allowed after showing a valid identity card.

Police deployed for security

Police teams will remain active at all event venues to immediately identify any suspicious or antisocial elements. Organisers have also been instructed to carefully follow the entry process and check the ID of every attendee.

Emphasis on cultural sanctity and social harmony

The Commission has said that utmost vigilance is necessary to ensure that no undesirable incidents occur during religious and cultural programs. This strictness is essential to preserve the purity of the events and maintain social harmony. In particular, based on inputs from saints and intellectuals, it has been observed that at times, certain individuals enter by concealing their identity, which affects both the dignity and security of the celebrations.
