To promote skill development among children, vocational education is being provided to 350 students in 14 secondary schools of the district. For this purpose, two separate teachers have been deployed in each school. This initiative has been implemented under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. As a result, students are being trained to become skilled in business and self-employment, along with regular education.
Training in the Service, Manufacturing and Agriculture Sectors
Under the vocational education programme, training is being given in the service, manufacturing and agriculture sectors. For this reason, instructors from ITIs, polytechnics and other institutions have been appointed. Moreover, students are being offered internship opportunities and career counselling sessions two to three times a year. In the first phase, 14 secondary schools, including government schools, have been selected. Consequently, students from Classes 9 to 12 are benefiting from this programme.
Focus on the Agriculture Sector
While selecting vocational trades, special focus has been given to the service, manufacturing and agriculture sectors. In addition, support is being taken from local polytechnics, ITIs, engineering colleges, Krishi Seva Kendras, Khadi and Village Industries Department, Skill India Mission, UP Skill Development Mission, and departments related to health, animal husbandry, agriculture and horticulture.
Multiple Vocational Trade Options
In each secondary school, at least four vocational trade options are being offered. Notably, one of these trades is linked to the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme. Furthermore, two vocational trades have been made compulsory for Classes 9 and 10, while one vocational trade is mandatory for Classes 11 and 12.
Courses Running in These Schools
Vocational courses are currently being conducted in PM Shri Government Girls School Maldahiya, Dev Murti Sharma Inter College, Adarsh Rashtriya Inter College, Subhadra Kumari Inter College, UP College, Vallabh Vidyapeeth, Baldev Inter College, Kalika Dham Inter College, Agrasen Girls Inter College, Radha Kishori Inter College, Rani Murar Inter College, PM Shri Government Inter College Jakkhini, Kamalakar Chaubey Inter College and Basant Girls School. At the same time, two teachers have been deployed in each of these schools.

According to Bholendra Pratap Singh, DIOS, vocational courses are being run in secondary schools under the new education policy. Therefore, students are getting the opportunity to learn new skills along with their routine academic education.
