The Yogi Adityanath government in UP has taken a major decision aimed at supporting youth in rural areas by strengthening career guidance and mental health support at the grassroots level. Under this initiative, the state government will recruit 826 career counsellors, who will be posted across blocks in rural Uttar Pradesh. The move is expected to directly benefit students studying in schools, especially those facing academic pressure and career-related confusion.
According to official sources, one career counsellor will be appointed in each block. These counsellors will provide regular career guidance to students studying in government schools and also offer counselling support to students experiencing mental stress. The recruitment will be carried out on a contractual basis by the Secondary Education Department, and selected candidates will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹25,000. The recruitment process is expected to begin soon.
Recruitment Process and Eligibility Conditions
In a parallel recruitment drive, the Panchayati Raj Department of Uttar Pradesh has also issued an advertisement for the recruitment of 826 Block Project Managers (Block Project Manager/Officer) on a contract basis. For applying to these posts, candidates must have scored at least 60% marks in graduation and must possess a CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) certificate.
Out of the total 826 posts, 413 are reserved for the General category, 223 for OBC, 173 for SC, and 17 for ST candidates. Selected candidates will be paid a monthly honorarium of ₹15,001. Applications will be accepted only through the Sevayojana portal, and applicants will be allowed to apply only in their home district. If a candidate applies in more than one district, all applications except the one from the home district will be considered invalid.
Role, Responsibilities, and Scheme Background
The selected Block Project Managers will be deployed at the block level and will function similarly to technical assistants. Their primary responsibilities will include data entry, updating departmental portals, and handling computer-based administrative work.
This recruitment is being conducted under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), a central scheme aimed at strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions and enabling them to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) more effectively. The entire recruitment process will be supervised by the Directorate of Panchayati Raj.
Officials believe that these recruitments will not only create employment opportunities for educated youth but will also improve governance, technical efficiency, and student support systems in rural Uttar Pradesh.
