The process of updating the voter list in Uttar Pradesh is progressing rapidly. The Election Department has clarified that if any voter does not fill out and submit the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) form, their name may be removed from the voter list. Officials have appealed to all citizens to actively participate in this campaign so that the names of all eligible voters remain on the list.
BLOs Conducting Door-to-Door Visits
Across the state, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are visiting households in their respective areas and distributing SIR forms. This form is provided to ensure the accuracy of the voter list. Election officials stated that voters must carefully fill out the form, sign it, and return it to the BLO. If a voter is not present at home, any adult family member can fill out the details of all members and submit the form.
Focus on Making the Voter List Transparent
Earlier, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa held a virtual review meeting with district election officers regarding the SIR campaign. He instructed that the process of adding and removing names from the voter list must be completely transparent. If any irregularity or negligence is found, strict action will be taken against the concerned official.
The CEO also directed all District Magistrates to hold meetings with political parties and ensure the deployment of Booth Level Agents (BLAs) so that they can assist the BLOs.
Acceleration in Form Distribution and App Updates
In the meeting, it was informed that the printing of counting forms in all districts has been completed. In areas where distribution is slow, instructions have been issued to speed up the process. BLOs have been asked to download the BLO App (Version 8.7) and update the distribution progress online. Additionally, the voter list of 2003 must be mapped to the current list within three days.
New Facility for Voters
To facilitate voters, the Election Commission of India has launched the “Book a Call with BLO” service. Now voters can visit the voters.eci.gov.in portal and request a call from their BLO. The BLO must respond within 48 hours. The CEO has directed that this service be promoted widely, similar to helpline number 1950.
Along with this, District Contact Centres (DCC) will also be established in every district, where voters can get their queries resolved. To call, voters must dial 1950 with the STD code of their district.
